In a significant boost to its aerial capabilities, Albania has welcomed the arrival of a fleet of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters from the United States, marking a historic milestone in Albanian aviation history. The shipment, which arrived in Tirana today, symbolizes the strengthening of defense ties between Albania and the United States.
The U.S. Embassy in Tirana officially announced this landmark event, stating that a U.S. C-17 transport aircraft landed in Tirana carrying Albania’s first order of Black Hawk helicopters. This significant delivery is supported by over $50 million in U.S. aid funds, highlighting the ongoing commitment of the United States to Albania’s military enhancement.
These state-of-the-art helicopters will serve a critical role in the Albanian Air Force. They are expected to be employed for a variety of missions including medical evacuation, personnel recovery, search and rescue operations, and logistical support for NATO operations and training exercises.
“The arrival of these new helicopters will significantly bolster the capabilities of the Albanian Air Force. The UH-60 Black Hawks are adept at performing medical evacuations, personnel recovery, search and rescue missions, as well as providing logistical support for NATO’s operational and training movements. The United States takes great pride in our strong defense partnership with Albania,” the U.S. Embassy’s announcement elaborated.
