World-renowned Albanian soprano Ermonela Jaho is set to return to one of the most prestigious opera stages in the world, the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, performing one of the most defining roles of her career — Violetta in La Traviata by Giuseppe Verdi.
After more than 300 performances of this iconic role across the globe, Jaho once again steps into the character that has shaped both her artistic and personal journey. For her, Violetta is far more than just a role — it is a promise she made to herself early in her career in Albania.
Sharing her emotions about this major return, Jaho emphasized that each performance of Violetta reveals new layers of the character — strength, vulnerability, and sacrifice — making it a continuously evolving artistic and emotional experience.
The performances at the Metropolitan Opera will take place on May 6, 9, 13, and 16, under the baton of conductor Marco Armigliato.
This return once again solidifies Ermonela Jaho’s status as one of the most powerful and emotionally captivating voices in the world of opera.
