Kosova has won its second gold medal at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, with karateka Islam Selmani claiming the title in the men’s 60-kilogram category.

Selmani defeated Türkiye’s Burak Özdemir 1–0 in the final, with a single point proving enough to secure the gold medal.

The victory adds another major success for Kosova’s delegation in Taranto, with Selmani celebrating immediately after the bout alongside officials from the Kosovo Karate Federation, the Kosovo Olympic Committee, friends and supporters in the stands at the venue in Martina Franca.

Selmani’s gold is Kosova’s seventh medal at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games and its second gold, following boxer Donjeta Sadiku’s triumph.

Kosova’s medal tally now stands at two gold, one silver and four bronze medals.
