Downtown Quincy is buzzing with anticipation as preparations are in full swing for the second annual Greater Boston Albanian Festival scheduled for tomorrow. The event, sponsored by Leo Keka, promises to be a vibrant celebration of Albanian culture, aiming to spread joy and unity within the Albanian community.

The festival will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and has been relocated from Kilroy Square to the more expansive Hancock Street. This change will allow for a larger venue, accommodating the expected surge in attendees. Hancock Street will be blocked off from Granite Street to Revere Road, extending west toward the IHOP restaurant on Parkingway.

Last year’s inaugural festival was a resounding success, with traditional Albanian folk dances being a major highlight. The sight of young kids dancing and celebrating their heritage was truly heartwarming.

Leo Keka, an emigrant from Albania and the proud owner of Alba Restaurants in Quincy and Hanover, is optimistic that this year’s festival will surpass last year’s attendance, which saw about 3,000 participants.

Tickets are available at $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Attendees can look forward to a delightful menu from Keka’s Alba restaurant, featuring traditional Albanian dishes such as bean soup, roasted whole lamb with Albanian rice, chicken, and salads.

The festival will kick off with a car show, showcasing vehicles proudly displaying the Albanian flag’s black and red colors. Throughout the day, there will be performances of Albanian music and dance. Additionally, vendors will offer traditional Albanian costumes and clothing for sale.
