Kosova’s justice system has delivered a major verdict in the “Banjska” case, sentencing two Serbian attackers to life in prison and a third to 30 years behind bars.
The Basic Court in Prishtina found Blagoje Spasojeviq and Vladimir Toliq guilty, handing both life sentences. Dushan Maksimoviq was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Presiding judge Ngadhnjim Arrni stated that time already spent in pre-trial detention will be counted toward their sentences. He also confirmed that the defendants will remain in custody until the verdict becomes final.
The court ordered the confiscation of all weapons and equipment used in carrying out the attack.
The case is linked to the September 24, 2023, terrorist attack in Banjska, Zvečan — one of the most serious security incidents in Kosova in recent years. During the attack, Kosova Police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed, while two other officers were injured.
Kosova’s Special Prosecution had earlier indicted Milan Radoičić and 44 others, accusing them of attempting to forcibly detach the northern part of Kosova and annex it to Serbia through the use of heavy weaponry.
The attack not only claimed the life of Officer Bunjaku but also endangered the lives of other police officers and civilians.
