City council member of Wylie, Texas, Gino Mulliqi, has been sworn in for another 3-year term and reappointed as Mayor Pro Tem by his fellow council members.
In a deeply personal social media post, Mulliqi reflected on his journey from being a 13-year-old boy during the war in Kosovo to holding public office in the United States.
He recalled the fear and uncertainty of wartime Kosovo, followed by a life-changing path that took him to the U.S. as an exchange student in Oregon, later moving to New York, building a career at Verizon, starting a business, and eventually entering local politics in Texas.
“America gave me a chance. Wylie gave me a home” he wrote, emphasizing his gratitude toward the community he now serves.
Mulliqi thanked the citizens of Wylie, Texas for their trust, his colleagues for their confidence, and his family for their unwavering support throughout his journey.
He described the moment as one filled with gratitude, humility, and responsibility, reaffirming his commitment to serving the community.
