Mira Murati, the former Chief Technology Officer of OpenAI, has secured a major multi-year strategic partnership between her artificial intelligence startup Thinking Machines Lab and U.S. tech giant Nvidia to develop advanced AI systems.
Under the agreement, Nvidia will invest in Murati’s startup and provide next-generation processors that will power the training and operation of cutting-edge AI models.
The collaboration will also use Nvidia’s new computing platform, Vera Rubin, which is expected to support the development of powerful AI training systems.
According to reports, the computing infrastructure for the project could reach up to one gigawatt of computing capacity—a scale typically reserved for the world’s largest AI laboratories. This level of power could allow Murati’s company to develop next-generation models capable of competing with the most advanced AI projects globally.
Founded in 2025 in San Francisco, Thinking Machines Lab focuses on building artificial intelligence systems that are more understandable, adaptable, and customizable for users and organizations.
The company has already attracted several leading AI researchers from major tech companies, including OpenAI and Meta.
The partnership with Nvidia is seen as a major step for the development of new AI technologies and could position Murati’s startup among the most ambitious artificial intelligence projects in the world.
