On May 7, 2023, the Albanian community gathered at Kensico Dam Plaza in Westchester, New York to honor “Albanian Freedom Day”. The event, organized by the Kelmendi Cultural and Artistic Society, the Mrnaçaj family, and the Westchester County Executive, paid tribute to the anti-communist resistance of persecuted Albanian families.

The gathering began with the American and Albanian national anthems and included various speeches and artistic performances. Majkëll Mrnaçaj, son of anti-communist demonstrator Nik Marash Mrnaçaj, thanked participants for honoring his father and grandfather.

Following the speeches, attendees raised the Albanian national flag, marking a memorable day of national respect, honor, and pride. The event, covered by Adem Belliu of Albanian Culture Television, will be broadcast on the Tv Alb platform.
