Albanian Parade Turns Italy Red and Black

Share

The city of Asti in Piedmont, Italy, turned into a vibrant stage of Albanian culture on Saturday, September 20, 2025, during the fourth edition of the festival “Le Radici del Cuore – Roots of the Heart.”

Organized by Assoalbania Piemonte and the Margarita Xhepa Cultural and Artistic Center, with the support of the Municipality of Asti, the event showcased traditional costumes, music, dances, and authentic Albanian cuisine.

The parade started at 3:30 p.m. from Piazza Roma, passed through the city center, and concluded at Way Assauto. Local officials and the Albanian Consulate in Milan, including Ms. Luljeta Çobanaj, highlighted the importance of cultural bridges between Albanians and Italians.

In the evening, the stage lit up with performances by Albanian folklore groups from both Italy and Albania, alongside concerts by Mustafa Meja, Renato Jaho, and DJ Beni 006. Guests also enjoyed traditional Albanian dishes paired with Piedmont’s famous wines.

One of the highlights was the display of traditional costumes, including the ancient Xhubleta, a unique 3,000-year-old dress recognized by UNESCO as cultural heritage. “Our community wishes to share its roots and identity, preserved through centuries,” the organizers said.

The event ended with both national anthems and a sea of red-and-black flags, turning Asti into a celebration of friendship and unity between peoples.
