This is the inspiring story of Kozeta Garret, a brilliant Albanian woman from Saranda who now leads global cybersecurity at Microsoft.
Kozeta left Albania in 1996 to pursue her academic dreams. After studying mathematics in Italy, her journey took her to the Netherlands, Germany, Kuwait, and finally the United States, where she now holds the position of Global Director of Cybersecurity at Microsoft — one of the world’s most powerful tech giants.
“I’m always learning new things and investing in knowledge to grow professionally” says Garret. She emphasizes the importance of staying ahead in an era where technology is rapidly evolving: “We must understand new innovations and how to protect ourselves from them.”
The path wasn’t easy. “The beginning is always hard,” she admits, “but with dedication and hard work, you can achieve anything.”
For Garret, success goes beyond the personal. She strongly believes in the brilliance of Albanians around the world: “Albanians are among the smartest people and are shining internationally.”
While the world already knows Mira Murati, the Albanian woman leading AI development at OpenAI, Kozeta Garret is now another name to watch — the woman defending the digital world from the heart of Silicon Valley.
“I haven’t met Mira yet” Kozeta says, “but I’m looking forward to it. It will be a pleasure.”
Two women, two different journeys, one powerful vision — representing Albanian women with pride on the global tech stage.
