Bix Aliu has been nominated as the first Albanian-American ambassador of the United States, marking a historic milestone for the Albanian-American community. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, to Albanian parents from Zajasi, Kërçovë, Macedonia, Aliu’s ascent in the realm of diplomacy underscores the American dream’s reach and the profound contributions of the Albanian diaspora.

Throughout his career, Aliu has been at the forefront of critical diplomatic missions, including his involvement in the Rambouillet Peace Accords and his efforts in crisis management in Macedonia. His dedication to fostering peace, democracy, and development has earned him numerous accolades, including the Superior Honor Award and the Meritorious Honor Award from the U.S. State Department.

Before his historic nomination, Aliu served as the Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States Embassy in Podgorica, Montenegro, and held various significant positions within the U.S. Department of State. His nomination to serve in Podgorica, Montenegro as the first Albanian-American ambassador is a source of pride for the Albanian community, highlighting the significant strides made by Albanian-Americans in international diplomacy and public service.
