Albanian Americans in NYC Take a Stand Against Femicide

Share

Over the weekend, F’Oda responded to the tragic murders of Erona Cokli and Gjyljeta Ukella by organizing an event initially planned as a rally at the Consulate General of Kosovo. Instead of a traditional rally, the attendees were welcomed inside the physical space of the Consulate to address the pressing issue of femicide.

Through powerful speeches, attendees explored the complex facets of gender-based violence, condemning not only the perpetrators but also the societal structures and mindsets that enable such violence to persist.

Moreover, emphasis was placed on the need to bridge the gap between activism and government, working collaboratively to implement effective solutions and enact meaningful change.

F’Oda assures the community of their ongoing commitment to fighting against gender-based violence. The event was attended by a supportive audience, among whom were Ariela Ziu, Beti Tale, and Vanessa Marku, who spoke out against all forms of gender-based violence.
