The Albanian Institute, in collaboration with the New York Public Library, is proud to present a celebration of Albanian musical heritage on Saturday, May 11th, at 11 AM. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore the rich musical traditions of Albania and its diaspora, bringing together music, food, and dance in a vibrant celebration of Albanian culture.

Attendees will have the chance to discover the unique sounds of traditional Albanian musical instruments such as the gifteli, and learn about the fascinating history of epic singing. The program will also highlight the music of the Arbëreshë, the Albanian community in Italy, showcasing the diverse and interconnected nature of Albanian musical heritage.

One of the event’s highlights will be a performance by Voxtra, a Belgium-based ensemble that brings together five incredible vocal traditions with Albanian iso-polyphony. This fusion promises to be a captivating encounter of vocal heritage, offering attendees a truly unique musical experience. Additionally, the event will feature performances by the Gjini Family from Albania, as well as Gramoz, Brihans, and Ylber Gjini, adding to the richness and diversity of the musical program.
