On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Albania’s independence, New York City Mayor Eric Adams organized a special gathering on Tuesday, during which he spoke about the role of the Albanian-American community in the development of the city.
In an interview for the Voice of America, Mr. Adams said that the Albanian-Americans in New York represent the values that are part of his governing program, which, as he said, adds to the importance of this community in the city he leads.
Albanian-American activists and representatives of Albania also spoke at this ceremony, who expressed their gratitude for the American contribution to the Albanian issue.
The Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, hosted the Albanian-American community at the official residence of the mayor of the city, called “Gracie Mansion”, in a ceremony dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Albania’s independence.
Mr. Adams told the Voice of America that the decision to organize this gathering in the surroundings of this well-known historical center was not accidental.
“When I open the doors of the “Gracie Mansion” residence to a community like the Albanian-American one, I want to convey the message that we know you, you are part of the city and that this is your home just as it is my home. That’s why we decided to do this organization on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Albania’s independence” said Mr. Adams.
