Presidentja e Kosovës, Vjosa Osmani, ka dekoruar figurën e njohur shqiptaro-amerikane Harry Bajraktarin me “Urdhrin e Lirisë”, duke vlerësuar mbi tri dekada kontribut vendimtar në lobimin, avokimin dhe shtetndërtimin e Kosovës në momentet më kyçe të historisë së saj.
Në ceremoninë solemne, Presidentja Osmani e përshkroi Bajraktarin si një nga zërat më të fuqishëm të Kosovës në Shtetet e Bashkuara — një njeri që punoi ngushtë me Presidentin Ibrahim Rugova dhe e çoi kauzën e Kosovës deri në Shtëpinë e Bardhë, në Kongres dhe në institucionet kryesore amerikane. Për vite me radhë, ai ka qenë ura lidhëse mes Prishtinës dhe Uashingtonit, duke ndihmuar rrugën drejt lirisë dhe pavarësisë, si dhe duke mbështetur si lëvizjen paqësore të viteve ’90, ashtu edhe Ushtrinë Çlirimtare të Kosovës gjatë luftës.
Në reagimin e tij emocional, Bajraktari e quajti dekoratën një moment të paharrueshëm për të dhe familjen, “një nder që nuk përshkruhet me fjalë nga vendi për të cilin kemi ëndërruar dhe punuar brez pas brezi.” Ai ia dedikoi çmimin të gjithë komunitetit shqiptaro-amerikan që ka qëndruar në krah të Kosovës në çdo etapë të rrugëtimit të saj. Duke falënderuar Presidenten Osmani dhe miqtë e Kosovës në institucionet amerikane, Bajraktari theksoi se kjo medalje është kujtesë se puna për vendin nuk përfundon kurrë — ajo vazhdon çdo ditë me ndershmëri dhe besim tek brezat e rinj. “Zoti e bekoftë Kosovën, Zoti e bekoftë Amerikën,” tha ai.
