Share

Kosova will compete at the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, Italy, with a record 163 athletes, marking the largest delegation the country has ever sent to a major international multi-sport event.

The games will take place from August 21 to September 3, with Kosova competing across 21 sports. The delegation includes 87 men and 76 women.

At the team presentation ceremony, the Kosova flag was handed to boxer Donjeta Sadiku and taekwondo athlete Bleron Ademi, who will carry the flag at the opening ceremony.

The flag was presented by Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Kosovo Olympic Committee President Ismet Krasniqi. Members of the judo team were absent from the ceremony as they will join the delegation later due to their competition schedule.

Krasniqi called on the athletes to give their maximum in Taranto and represent Kosova with pride, dignity and responsibility.

Kurti also wished the athletes success, saying he hopes the Kosova flag will fly proudly in Taranto as a symbol of the team’s achievements.

Judo coach Driton Kuka, who has won nine medals at the Mediterranean Games, also expressed optimism about further success. Olympic and Mediterranean medalist Laura Fazliu shared the same ambition ahead of the competition.

Following the conclusion of Taranto 2026, Kosova is expected to officially receive the hosting flag for the Prishtina 2030 Mediterranean Games.
