Elina Xhengo has written a new chapter in Albanian sports history. The javelin thrower achieved the biggest victory of her career by winning the gold medal at the prestigious Diamond League Final in Zurich.

This marks her first-ever Diamond League gold, a triumph that secures her place among the world’s elite athletes. With an impressive throw of 64.57 meters, the 2022 European Champion outperformed her toughest rivals and claimed the top spot on the podium.

“This result is the outcome of dedication, discipline, and relentless hard work,” said her coach Giorgos Botskariov, calling the victory a proud moment not only for Albanian athletics but for the entire nation.

The historic win comes just months ahead of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where Xhengo is expected to be one of the top contenders for another medal.
