Donjeta Sadiku has won the gold medal at the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games, defeating Serbia’s Kristina Kuluhova in the women’s 60kg boxing final.

The Russian-born boxer representing Serbia was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury in the second round, handing Sadiku the gold medal.

Sadiku had reached the final after an impressive run through the tournament. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Türkiye’s Esmanur Lok by a 4–1 decision before beating Greece’s Sofia Legaki 5–0 in the semifinals.

The gold medal adds another major achievement to Sadiku’s decorated international career.

The boxer from Kosova has competed at two Olympic Games, Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024. She is also a World Championship bronze medalist and European Championship bronze medalist.

Earlier in 2026, Sadiku won gold at the prestigious Strandja Tournament in Bulgaria in the 60kg category.

For Kosova, the result represents another important moment at Taranto 2026, where the country is represented by 163 athletes across multiple sports.
