Kosovo’s judo star Distria Krasniqi has won the silver medal at the 2025 World Judo Championships held in Budapest, Hungary. Competing in the -52kg category, Krasniqi reached the final after a dominant performance in the earlier rounds, showcasing the high level of skill and determination she is known for.
In the final, she faced one of the biggest names in world judo — Uta Abe of Japan, a multiple-time world and Olympic champion. Despite a strong effort from Krasniqi, Abe claimed victory, leaving the Kosovar judoka with the well-deserved runner-up title.
This is another major achievement for Krasniqi, who won Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020 in the 48kg category, and Olympic silver in Paris 2024 in the 52kg division. Her consistent success on the international stage has made her one of the most celebrated athletes in Kosovo’s history.
