Dr. Kujtim Thaçi, an Albanian doctor from Kosovo, has become the first Albanian to publish a scientific paper with Harvard Medical School.
The study is published in the journal Glycoscience & Therapy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and introduces a new approach in immunology and neonatology.
His research focuses on the glycosylation of immunoglobulin IgG and its role in the early detection and treatment of neonatal hemochromatosis, a rare disease affecting newborns.
“This paper highlights, for the first time, the importance of IgG glycosylation for the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for early detection and pre- and postnatal management of neonatal hemochromatosis” wrote Dr. Thaçi.
He called on healthcare professionals and scientists, especially in immunology, pediatrics, and rheumatology, to read the study carefully.
