The United States marks on Sunday the 21st anniversary of the largest terrorist attacks on its soil.

As a result of these attacks, around 3,000 people have died.

Nineteen militants, linked to the terrorist group Al-Qaeda, have hijacked four planes and crashed the planes into the Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon near Washington and a field in Pennsylvania.

Even this anniversary, the heads of state of Kosovo paid tribute to the commemorative plaque “Kosova remembers” in Pristina, which honors the victims of this attack.

The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, has said that after the attack of September 11, the people of the USA and those of Kosovo joined forces to fight terrorism.

“We join the entire American people in sharing the pain of more than 3,000 lives lost in a battle that once again proved to be a battle of values. On September 11, 2001, American citizens were subjected to one of the most horrific terrorist attacks in human history. But, that day, not only America was attacked, all of us who believe in the same values were attacked. In the values of freedom and democracy”, she said.

Even the prime minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, made a statement after the tributes.

“The people of Kosovo stand by the American people, and the USA has proven even after the September 11 attacks that it is a nation of free and equal people, and that they do not compromise with their values.”

The Deputy Ambassador of the United States in Kosovo, Alyson Grunder, thanked the Kosovo authorities for their solidarity in commemorating this event.

“I was in New York on that national day, serving in the US mission to the United Nations. You can imagine the shock that any man would experience at such an act, which was intended to kill as many innocent people as possible. But in the following days, we have seen solidarity from all over the world, including here from Kosovo”.
