A bold new landmark is set to rise in the heart of Tirana. The Albanian government has officially approved the construction of the “Barcelona” Tower, a 190-meter skyscraper that will dramatically transform the city’s skyline. Once completed, it will be the second tallest building in Albania—and one of the tallest in the entire Balkans.
Designed by the renowned Spanish architecture studio Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura, the Barcelona Tower features a unique twisted structure inspired by the traditional Albanian fustanella. The design merges cultural symbolism with futuristic architecture, making it a standout among the capital’s growing skyline.
The tower will be built on Rruga Ibrahim Rugova, just steps away from Skanderbeg Square. It is planned as a mixed-use development with 54 floors above ground and six underground levels, including residential, commercial, and office spaces.
Construction of the tower will be overseen by Bami SHPK, and the project has already received a green light from the National Territory Council (KKT). With its distinctive tilt and soaring height, the Barcelona Tower is expected to become a symbol of modern Tirana and Albania’s architectural ambition.
