Shpëtim “Tim” Qorraj, a Kosova-born businessman and the son of a KLA fighter, held a fundraising evening at the Albanian Community Center on Staten Island as he runs for the New York State Assembly.

Leaders of several Albanian and American organizations attended to back his candidacy in District 64. Community activist Ibrahim introduced him to the crowd.

In his speech, Qorraj spoke about his Albanian roots and his family’s sacrifice. He is the son of Mustafë Qorraj, described in Albanian media as a hero of the Kosova Liberation Army. He also spoke about the values he brought with him to America.

Qorraj promised a Staten Island with more opportunities for families, more affordable housing, better transport and infrastructure, and less red tape for small businesses.

Born in Kosova, Qorraj studied law at the University of Prishtina and later earned a master’s degree in criminal law. In the United States he has worked as an entrepreneur and real estate professional, and has been active in the local community. He lives on Staten Island with his wife, Kathleen, and their two sons.

The election takes place on November 3, 2026.
