Kosova is entering a new era of defense and military industry development, as it prepares to produce military armored vehicles for the first time in its history.

The Ministry of Defense has confirmed that, in cooperation with Albania, the armored vehicle “Shota”, currently produced in Albania, will now also be manufactured in Kosova. This marks a historic milestone for Kosova’s security sector and domestic industrial capabilities.

The production of the Shota vehicles in Kosova is part of a broader defense cooperation framework aimed at strengthening regional security, increasing self-sufficiency, and reducing reliance on foreign military suppliers. The initiative is expected to include technology transfer, professional training, and the establishment of production infrastructure within Kosova.

Defense officials say the project will not only enhance Kosova’s military readiness but also contribute to economic development by creating specialized jobs and boosting local industry. Producing armored vehicles domestically places Kosova among a small group of countries in the region with active military manufacturing capacity.

The Shota armored vehicle is designed for high-risk operational environments, offering increased protection against mines, improvised explosive devices, and ballistic threats. Its production in Kosova could also open the door to future exports and deeper defense cooperation with allied countries.
