An international survey conducted by the Gallup International network shows how citizens of Kosovo view several of the world’s most prominent leaders, highlighting a clear divide between figures associated with the Western world and those from countries whose positions have often conflicted with Kosovo’s interests.

According to the results, net favorability in Kosovo is positive for some leaders and strongly negative for others. Donald Trump records +27, Pope Leo +21, while Narendra Modi stands at -30, Xi Jinping at -48, Benjamin Netanyahu at -60, and Vladimir Putin at -75. These figures suggest that public opinion in Kosovo remains more favorable toward leaders perceived as part of the Western alliance, while attitudes are significantly more negative toward leaders from countries that have historically opposed Kosovo’s positions.

The very negative perception of Russian President Vladimir Putin is linked to Russia’s long-standing opposition to Kosovo’s independence and its consistent support for Serbia in international forums. As a result, public sentiment in Kosovo toward Russian leadership remains among the most unfavorable in Europe.

More positive views of figures connected to the United States reflect Kosovo’s well-known pro-Western orientation. Since the war period and NATO’s intervention, the United States has widely been seen as Kosovo’s main strategic ally, a perception that continues to shape how citizens evaluate American leaders.

Negative ratings for Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi also reflect political distance and limited institutional ties with countries that have not recognized Kosovo’s independence or maintain weaker relations with Pristina. Similarly, the unfavorable score for Benjamin Netanyahu shows that public opinion in Kosovo is strongly influenced by broader international political developments and ongoing global conflicts.
