Kosovo has imposed new sanctions on the Russian Federation and Belarus in relation to the situation in Ukraine.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, during today’s government meeting made this known while emphasizing that these sanctions were made in accordance with the “package of sanctions undertaken by the EU and the US.”

“The Republic of Kosovo is among the first countries in imposing economic and financial sanctions on the Russian Federation after the invasion and military aggression in Ukraine, in accordance with the package of sanctions undertaken by the EU and the US,” said Bislimi.

Bislimi said that these sanctions are related to the freezing of assets in Kosovo of sanctioned individuals or entities, ban on access to and operation in the market, ban on travel and funds.

With the new sanctions, Kosovo also bans any Russian or Belarusian road transport company.
Kosovo has also banned the import of coal from Russia or from countries that buy it from Russia.

Otherwise, Kosovo has previously imposed sanctions on Russia, in line with the United States of America and the European Union.

Prime Minister Albin Kurti had stressed that the measures are economic, trade and financial.
