An important discussion titled “Women, War and the Fight for Justice in the Republic of Kosova” was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Kosova in New York, organized by the Ulqini Association in cooperation with the Consulate and moderated by Samantha Shkreli.
The event was opened by Ambassador Blerim Reka, who called for international justice for Vasfije Krasniqi Goodman and approximately 20,000 Albanian women who were raped during the war in Kosova. He stressed the importance of truth and accountability for the crimes committed and emphasized that justice remains essential for the victims and the country’s future.
The discussion addressed crimes and genocide committed by Serbia in Kosova, with particular focus on wartime sexual violence. Participants highlighted the strength, resilience, and courage of Kosova’s women and the continued importance of seeking justice internationally.
Among the keynote speakers was Vasfije Krasniqi Goodman, Special Envoy of the President of Kosova and a survivor of wartime sexual violence, who shared her personal testimony and called for justice for all victims. Vera Mjeku also spoke about the importance of institutional engagement and continued support for survivors.
