Former EU Mediator for Kosovo-Serbia Dialogue Exposed in Epstein Files

Share

Newly released Epstein Files have placed Miroslav Lajčák, the former EU envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, at the center of a disturbing controversy involving private messages exchanged with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

According to the documents, Lajčák maintained regular contact with Epstein and engaged in conversations that included comments about “girls.” In one of the exchanges, Lajčák reportedly responded positively to Epstein, stating that the “girls were good.” The wording and tone of the communication have sparked outrage, given Epstein’s criminal history and the global sensitivity surrounding any discussion of women or girls linked to him.

The messages suggest a level of familiarity that goes beyond casual or purely professional contact. Epstein and Lajčák reportedly corresponded multiple times and met on several occasions, raising serious questions about judgment and ethics — especially considering Lajčák’s high-level diplomatic role in the Balkans.

Beyond the conversations about girls, the leaked messages also reveal political undertones. In one exchange, Lajčák is quoted as telling Epstein, “I love Lavrov” referring to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The remark has drawn particular criticism in Kosovo and across the region, given Russia’s strong opposition to Kosovo’s independence and its influence in Serbian politics.

At the time of these communications, Lajčák was one of the European Union’s most influential diplomats, entrusted with mediating one of the most sensitive political processes in Southeast Europe — the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.

Following the publication of these messages, political pressure quickly mounted in Slovakia. Lajčák has now resigned from his position as counselor to Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, a move widely seen as a direct consequence of the Epstein Files revelations.
