An Albanian school opens in Halkida of Evia in Greece

The children of the Albanian community in Halkidha of Evia in Greece from today on will have a school for learning the Albanian language.

The opening of this course was realized thanks to the continuous efforts of Shpresa Rajta, Head of the Association of Albanian Emigrants in Evia and its members, as well as thanks to the close cooperation between the association, the Embassy and the local government.

The Ambassador of RS in Athens, Luela Hajdaraga, together with the Coordinating Officer for the Diaspora, Joneda Dodaj, was part of the opening ceremony.

Also present at this ceremony were the Director of the Greek General High School where the additional learning of the Albanian language will take place, Maria Mattheu, President of the Albanian Community in Greece, Ermal Sulaj, President of the League of Albanian Teachers in Greece, Pierin Lleshi, Presidents and prominent members of the community, parents, students, who gave their support for this activity.

The activity was welcomed by Ambassador Hajdaraga, who, after congratulating the association for this initiative, pointed out that the preservation and promotion of the Albanian language and culture is an important priority for the Embassy, ​​while emphasizing that the right to learn the mother tongue is a duty not only of the family and school environment, but also the duty of the mother country and the host country.
