QUINT calls on Kosovo to implement the decision on the Decan Monastery

Share

QUINT states in a joint statement have asked the Government of Kosovo to implement the decision of the Constitutional Court regarding the land of the Monastery of Decan.

“In May 2016, the Constitutional Court of Kosovo confirmed the ownership of the Decan Monastery over several hectares of land. “Despite this legal decision and subsequent requests, the decision of the Court has not been implemented yet”, it is said in their reaction.

The heads of missions of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States of America said that law enforcement and respect for the independence of the judiciary are the obligations of all democratically elected governments.

“Also, they are preconditions for the democratic consolidation of Kosovo and its integration into European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.”

They said they are united in their support for Kosovo’s democratic and European future.

“Therefore, we again call on the government of Kosovo, in accordance with the decision of the Constitutional Court, to act without delay for the full implementation of the legal registration of the land of the Monastery of Decan.”
