Election of the new president of Albania, Rama: We must have patience, we do not have a name

Share

The first round for the election of the next Albanian president has already failed, without any candidate.

The chances are that something like this will happen in the next two rounds and this is confirmed by the Prime Minister Edi Rama.

“It is known that we do not have the necessary 84 votes to pass to the first, second and third round, and it does not seem to me that there is any clarity from the other parties, so far, to be involved in the process.” , declared Rama leaving the Assembly.

But does the Socialist Party have a name?

Rama answers with a “no”.

“We no longer know who we have on the other side, there are all kinds of pieces and ticks. We went through this process twice when we were in opposition, when I was leading the SP. “We then sat at the table, despite the fact that the majority chose another candidate who came from the ranks of the Democratic Party.”

Rama says that for the process of electing the president, the majority will wait “patiently there was a desire from the other side, but we will not be left without exhausting the mandate given to us by the Constitution”.

“It is unfortunate that it could be a more cultured and harmonized process between a confrontation and an exchange of ideas, especially in a moment like this where we do not need to add new gaps beyond what we have,” he said.

Regarding the identified condition that excludes political profiles from the candidacy, Rama says that they have not conditioned anyone and have not said that the candidate should not be from the parliamentary group.
