Forbes: Only One Billionaire Linked to Albania

Share

The latest global wealth overview by the prestigious magazine Forbes shows that the number of countries with at least one billionaire continues to grow, highlighting major shifts in the global economy and entrepreneurship.

According to the newest data, 80 countries and territories now have at least one billionaire, two more than last year. The list includes nations from across the globe, ranging from Afghanistan and Algeria to Vietnam and Zimbabwe.

At the top of the global ranking remains Elon Musk, whose net worth is estimated at around $839 billion, the highest fortune ever recorded by Forbes. Among the world’s richest individuals is also Larry Page, co-founder of Google.

The list also features remarkable stories from countries that until recently had no billionaires. One example is Mirwais Azizi from Afghanistan. After leaving his country during the Soviet-Afghan war in 1988, he started a new life in Dubai with just $700 and later built the real-estate company Azizi Developments, which today manages dozens of major projects.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has returned to the list of billionaire nations thanks to entrepreneur Sualeh Asif, co-founder of an artificial-intelligence coding platform whose fortune has surpassed $1 billion.

When it comes to Albania, the list includes only one billionaire linked to the country: businessman Samir Mane. His fortune is estimated at around $1.9 billion, a notable increase from about $1.4 billion last year.

Mane is the founder and president of BALFIN Group, one of the largest investment groups in the region headquartered in Tirana. He left Albania in 1991, moving to Austria, where he began his entrepreneurial journey.

In 1998, he launched the electronics retail chain Neptun, before expanding into shopping center development and other industries. Today, BALFIN has major investments in real estate, logistics, and education, with assets and projects in several countries, including the United States, Canada, and Austria.

According to Forbes, the growing number of billionaires in new countries reflects major transformations in the global economy and the rapid expansion of entrepreneurship worldwide.
