A $10,000 donation from the Albanian-American community in the U.S. was delivered today to the Children’s Library at the Youth Palace in Prishtina. The donation, made possible through The Library Project Kosova, was presented by philanthropist and humanitarian Emina Çunmulaj.
Prishtina’s Mayor, Përparim Rama, highlighted its importance:
“I thank Emina Çunmulaj, who came from America to deliver this wonderful donation from the Albanian-American community. In today’s digital age, when children spend so much time on screens, a space like this is a true paradise for creativity and health.”
Emina added:
“The Library Project Kosova’s mission is to inspire children to love books and to create a creative space. We have also trained children and teachers to use engaging strategies that encourage reading.”
This contribution is part of the campaign “Biblioteka na bashkon – bëhu pjesë e krijimit”, which unites Albanians worldwide to establish Kosova’s first Children’s Library.
Just days ago, Prishtina-born scientist at Harvard, Drenusha Krasniqi Vanmeter, mobilized the Boston Public Library network to send a container of books to Kosova — an initiative strongly supported by Kristale Ivezaj Rama, wife of the Mayor of Prishtina and the driving force behind the Children’s Library project.
