Albanian Xhubleta Shines at Milan Fashion Week

Share

The Albanian xhubleta has conquered one of the world’s most prestigious fashion stages – Milan Fashion Week. Designer Moralda Durra presented her collection “A Thousand and One Threads” at a glamorous show held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Milan, attracting international media and fashion enthusiasts.

Inspired by Albania’s oldest traditional attire, the collection reimagines the xhubleta in a modern and conceptual way. Using black woolen fabric (shajak) and intricate braided details, Durra paid tribute to Albanian heritage while giving it a contemporary edge.

The collection had already won first prize at the Muza Competition 2025, a project supported by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, before being showcased in Milan.

Durra describes the xhubleta as a bridge connecting Albanian women of the past with those of today. Recognized in 2022 as part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage, the xhubleta continues to shine as a powerful symbol of Albanian identity on the global stage.
