The Pan-Albanian Federation of America “Vatra”, held a conference of special importance on December 29, 1918.

Under the chairmanship of Anastas Pandele, representatives of “Vatra” engaged and appealed for the creation of a National Monetary Fund, which would be dedicated to the elected delegates to support the issue of national rights at the Peace Conference in Paris.

In response to the call, the Albanian emigrants in the United States of America collected an amount of 150 thousand dollars, most of which was sent to the representatives of “Vatra” in Paris, in aid of their efforts in defense of independence and the whole land of Albania.

Earlier in 1918, “Vatra” announced its position regarding the Italian protectorate over Albania, prior to the proceedings of the Paris Conference, which was to be held on January 18, 1919.
