Kosovo’s Vesa Ibrahimi Makes History as First Foreign Woman to Graduate U.S. Ranger School

Share

Second Lieutenant Vesa Ibrahimi of the Kosovo Security Force has made global military history — becoming the first woman from outside the United States to graduate from the U.S. Army’s elite Ranger School, one of the toughest and most prestigious military training programs in the world.

This intense course is designed to push soldiers to their physical, mental, and emotional limits through a grueling series of challenges aimed at producing leaders capable of operating in any environment or combat situation.

Conducted in three brutal phases — Darby, Mountain, and Swamp — the course simulates real battlefield conditions, with limited sleep, minimal logistical support, and extreme physical stress.

Out of 148 soldiers who completed this cycle, only three were women — and Vesa Ibrahimi was the only international woman to do so.

The Kosovo Security Force emphasized that Ranger School trains officers in small-unit leadership and tactical operations, including ambush missions, long-range patrols, and detailed planning — all while enduring pressure, fatigue, and lack of rest.
