Luljeta Mehmeti-Quigley has reached a new historic milestone in her distinguished law enforcement career by graduating from the FBI National Academy, becoming one of the first and most prominent Kosovars — and the first woman from Kosovo police ranks — to complete this elite program.

Mehmeti-Quigley was among the earliest female officers to join the Kosovo Police right after its establishment in 2000. In 2001 she became the first woman to be promoted to the rank of Sergeant, a breakthrough in a newly formed force emerging from the post-conflict environment in Kosovo. Over the years she held various command and leadership roles, earning recognition for her strategic and operational contributions to policing.

Her career took an international turn when she lived and worked in the United Kingdom in the field of security, gaining further experience before returning to Kosovo in 2013 to continue her service. Since returning, she has been involved in key functions including media relations, career development, and initiatives supporting gender equality and professional development within the police.

Graduating from the FBI National Academy, one of the world’s most respected law enforcement training institutions, represents a pinnacle in her professional journey. The Academy is known for equipping senior officers with advanced skills in leadership, investigation, and management — expertise that Mehmeti-Quigley can now bring back to Kosovo.

She described the experience as “life-changing” and expressed pride in achieving this honor. The American-Albanian Law Enforcement Association also celebrated her success as a source of pride and inspiration for women serving in public safety and law enforcement in Kosovo and beyond.
