Unsurprisingly, Ukraine is expected to win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest – since its inception there has been strong global support for its entry.
Kalush Orchestra, a spin-off from their lead band, Kalush, will perform Stefania in Turin, a Ukrainian-language folk-rap song dedicated to the lead singer’s mother.
The group learned they would represent their country just days before the invasion, and have since split the time between defending their country and rehearsing for the greatest performance of their lives.
They will appear in tonight’s semifinals.
Russia was excluded from this year’s competition following pressure from other member states.
