The Albanian-American community has received a significant recognition after “Little Albania” in the Bronx was officially included on New York City’s map of immigrant enclaves.

Published by the city, the map highlights 30 neighborhoods across the five boroughs that are recognized for their historic immigrant communities and the role they have played in shaping New York’s cultural identity.

For decades, Little Albania has served as the heart of the Albanian-American community, bringing together families from Albania, Kosova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and the Preševo Valley.

The neighborhood is home to Albanian-owned restaurants, bakeries, cafés, businesses, cultural organizations, and community events that have helped preserve the Albanian language, traditions, and heritage for generations. Its inclusion on the city’s official map is seen as a recognition of the Albanian community’s lasting contribution to New York and its multicultural character.

The map also features well-known immigrant neighborhoods such as Koreatown, Chinatown, Little Ukraine, Little Guyana, Little Pakistan, and Little Yemen.
