Bebe Rexha has publicly expressed support for Albanian students protesting in North Macedonia over the ban on taking the jurisprudence exam in the Albanian language.

The students, from the University of Tetovo and South East European University, are planning a new protest on May 18 in Skopje, demanding equal language rights and the full implementation of the Law on the Use of Languages.

In her statement, Rexha emphasized that the Albanian language is deeply tied to identity and heritage, highlighting the importance of preserving it across generations. She also stressed that North Macedonia is a multiethnic state built on coexistence and equal rights, where Albanian is recognized as a co-official language.

Rexha further stated that students deserve equal opportunities and should not face discrimination in accessing education and professional qualifications such as the bar exam.

The issue has sparked ongoing political and institutional debate in North Macedonia, with student groups insisting they will continue protests until their demands are addressed.
