Kosova ka filluar zyrtarisht pranimin e migrantëve të dëbuar nga Shtetet e Bashkuara, në kuadër të marrëveshjes së arritur me administratën e presidentit Donald Trump. Kryeministri në detyrë, Albin Kurti, konfirmoi të enjten se një ose dy migrantë kanë mbërritur tashmë në vend.
Në një intervistë, Kurti tha se Kosova po pranon persona “që Shtetet e Bashkuara nuk i duan në territorin e tyre”, duke shënuar nisjen e zbatimit të marrëveshjes njëvjeçare.
Marrëveshja, e finalizuar në qershor, lejon që Kosova të pranojë deri në 50 migrantë gjatë një periudhe njëvjeçare. Sipas qeverisë, me nënshkrimin e saj Kosova ka dashur të shprehë “mirënjohjen e përjetshme” për mbështetjen amerikane që nga shpallja e pavarësisë në vitin 2008.
Sipas marrëveshjes, migrantët do të qëndrojnë përkohësisht në Kosovë, ndërsa punohet për kthimin e tyre të sigurt në vendet e origjinës. Ata duhet të respektojnë ligjet e Kosovës dhe gëzojnë të drejtat e garantuara nga legjislacioni vendor.
