A Swedish politician cut her hair during a debate in the European Parliament to show solidarity with anti-government demonstrations in Iran.
The MEP from Iraq, Abir Al-Sahlani, took to the podium to speak about the oppression of women’s rights in Iran.
“Until the women of Iran are free, we will stand with you,” she said before taking out scissors and cutting her hair.
The protests erupted after a young woman named Mahsa Amini died after being arrested and allegedly beaten by Iran’s Morality Police for wearing a hijab improperly.
