According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Albania ranks first in Europe for international visitor growth from January to July 2024, with an impressive post-pandemic recovery rate. Globally, Albania follows only Qatar in tourism growth, as confirmed by the recent UNWTO Tourism Barometer.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama shared the report on social media, highlighting Albania’s leading position in Europe for international visitor numbers, while also securing “a gold medal” in revenue growth from tourism. Albania welcomed 9.7 million international visitors from January to September 2024, with a diversified mix of tourist markets, pointing to sustained positive trends in both tourism and economic benefits for the country.
The report also shows Albania’s exceptional achievement of a +128% increase in tourism revenues compared to pre-pandemic figures. This recognition follows similar 2023 UNWTO findings, which ranked Albania fourth worldwide for international tourist flows relative to its population.
