In a landmark move, Austin FC has secured Albanian forward Myrto Uzuni from Spain’s Granada CF for a club-record transfer fee of $12.3 million. Uzuni, 29, has signed a three-year contract as a Designated Player, with an option extending to 2028. Expressing his enthusiasm, Uzuni stated “One of the main reasons I want to join Austin FC is the ambition that Anthony Precourt and Rodolfo Borrell have for this team, which matches my own ambition always to succeed with a winning mentality.”
Uzuni brings a prolific scoring record to Austin, having netted 49 goals in 106 appearances for Granada, including 14 goals in 18 matches this season. Austin FC’s sporting director, Rodolfo Borrell, praised Uzuni’s versatility and determination, noting his ability to play both centrally and on the wings. Uzuni joins fellow forwards Brandon Vázquez and Osman Bukari as part of Austin FC’s revamped attack under new head coach Nico Estévez.
