The contract for sending into space the satellites “Albania 1″ and “Albania 2” has been canceled.
The news was confirmed by the National Civil Protection Agency through an announcement, which states that one of the companies in the competition did not meet the criteria.
The notification underlines that the object of the contract entitled “implementation of the project of monitoring the territory with advanced technology (satellite service), for a period of 3 years” which had a VAT limit fund of 7.2 million USD has been canceled.
“The reasons for the cancellation according to this document are based on the law ‘on procurement in the field of defense and security’, as none of the bids submitted does not comply with the criteria set out in the contract documents.”
In October 2021, Prime Minister Rama declared from the parliament hall that the government was planning to send in March two satellites in orbit named “Albania 1” and “Albania 2”, while the months went by and the promise was not kept.
