Google has denied reports that Russian military infrastructure has appeared on its Maps service.
News circulated on the network that Google Maps had discovered some satellite images of Russian soldiers and their weapons on the territory of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces claimed on Twitter that “everyone could see a variety of Russian military infrastructure” after Google “enabled access”.
Rumors were also widely circulated by Ukrainian media organizations and Zelensky’s former spokeswoman.
But Google has denied making any changes to Maps in areas that were previously unclear.
“We have not made any changes to our satellite imagery in Russia,” a Google spokesman told Euronews.
Satellite imagery of military objects around the world is occasionally blurred or displayed in lower quality on Google Maps to protect their classified status.
