At the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” was held a cyber security competition, in the framework of Kosovo’s cooperation with Iowa, USA, respectively of the Kosovo Security Force with the National Air Guard from Iowa.
The FIEK student team with the competitive name “RUNNING TERROR” is ranked in first place, leaving behind a team from the US for almost 120 points.
Moreover, another team of students from FIEK with the title “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature”, is ranked in third place in the competition.
The organization of this event was welcomed by Rector Naser Sahiti. “Such student-centered initiatives are vital for UP. At the same time, the fact that the students of Iowa State University also participate in this competition, helps us in the self-evaluation of our work in the important field of cyber security “, said the Rector.
Also present at the event was the Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Arbërie Nagavci, who congratulated the students on their success.
This is the first competition of its kind in Kosovo, where participants were 12 teams (with the defensive role known as “blue teams”) from various educational institutions (universities, colleges and schools of the fifth level of studies) in the country .
The announcement states that the competing teams have worked to protect digital resources (such as servers, computers, Internet services, etc.) from “attack teams” (red teams) that are from the state of Iowa. Moreover, a monitoring team “White team” from Iowa has been present in Kosovo and together with members of the KSF have been monitoring the race all the time.
Competitive groups of FIEK students have competed in the preparation and support of prof. Blerim Rexha and his team.
