The US Ambassador to Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, has reacted to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who, like the leaders in Serbia, has denied the Recak Massacre, saying it was a “fabrication”.
Hovenier has said that attempts to rewrite and deny something like the well-documented Recak Massacre glorify war crimes and dishonor memories of the dead and open the wounds of survivors.
“Those who deny the atrocities in Recak seek to impede progress towards regional reconciliation, democratic consolidation and European and Euro-Atlantic integration,” Hovenier wrote.
Sergei Lavrov has denied the Recak massacre as he spoke about the massacre that Russian soldiers carried out in Bucha, Ukraine against unarmed civilians. Lavrov, while talking about these two massacres, said that they are “schemes” that according to him suit the Americans, while about the Recak Massacre, he said that those killed “were not civilians”
