The meeting between Kurti and Vucic can be held in the third week of August

A day after Prime Minister Albin Kurti said that he is ready to meet with the president of Serbia, confirmation came from his cabinet that such a thing could happen this month.

On July 19 of this year, a meeting was planned between the heads of state of Kosovo and Serbia within the dialogue sponsored by the European Union.

However, such a meeting failed with the reasoning of the Serbian side that a visit by the president of Egypt was planned in Belgrade.

The Prime Minister’s Office says that Prime Minister Kurti has always been ready for dialogue, while they accuse Serbia of rejecting dialogue.

“As you know, the meeting scheduled to be held on July 19 failed because official Belgrade refused to take place, demanding that such a meeting be postponed for more than a month. Prime Minister Kurti has consistently expressed his readiness for the next well-prepared meeting and for bilateral issues” Perparim Kryeziu – spokesman for the Government of Kosovo – told Telegrafi.

However, he says that a possible meeting in Brussels between Kurti and Vucic could be held at the end of this month.

“We are in constant communication with the European Union and if there will be another meeting, it is expected to take place in the third week of this month”, added Kryeziu.

The spokesperson of the Government of Kosovo, however, said that the license plate issue is no longer a topic of dialogue, as according to him it was carried out in the past.

“These decisions are of the government, which are foreseen in the agreements on which the parties have agreed in the past. What we started on August 1 and will continue on September 1 has been implemented by Serbia for 11 years now,” said Kryeziu.

After the recent developments in the north of Kosovo, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, has invited Prime Minister Albin Kurti and President Aleksandar Vucic to a meeting in Brussels.
