The Foreign Ministers of the group of seven most industrialized countries in the world (G7) have called on Kosovo and Serbia to engage constructively in dialogue and reach an agreement on the normalization of relations.
“We call on Kosovo and Serbia to engage constructively in the EU-mediated dialogue, to fully and without delay implement all agreements reached in the past, and to normalize their relations through a comprehensive and legal agreement. “, which would allow them to realize their respective European perspectives, which would contribute to regional stability and be to the benefit of all citizens of the region”, it is said in the joint statement of the G7 ministers after the meeting three-day in Germany.
The dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, which started in 2011 and this process aims to end with an agreement. Kosovo wants the process to include mutual recognition, while Serbia wants a compromise.
The G7 welcomed Kosovo’s decision to impose sanctions on Russia over its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, and called on Serbia to do the same.
Serbia is the only country in the Western Balkans region that has not followed the example of the European Union and the United States to impose sanctions on Russia.
Belgrade has said it supports Ukraine’s sovereignty, but will not impose sanctions on Russia.
